How Laser Hair Removal Works?

The laser creates a beam of high intensity light that penetrates deep into skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat. The Candela's patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) technology protects the upper layers of your skin with a cooling burst of cryogen. This will helps to minimize the pain and side effects.

In the process, you will wear a safety eyewear to protect your eyes from the bright light. Each laser pulse maybe preceded and followed by a short pulse of cooling spray. Some patients might feel a minor discomfort with the laser pulse; the feeling is like someone snapping a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort only last for a while due to the Candela's CDC cooling.

Patients who want to go for laser hair removal should avoid plucking, electrolysis or hair waxing six weeks prior to treatment. After the treatment, patients should avoid sun exposure by applying sun block (SPF 30 or above) prior to going outdoors. Patients shouldn't scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers for few days after the treatment.

Patient will see results immediately after each laser hair removal session, with less and less hair growth happening during the weeks after each session. Maintenance appointments are encouraged to target hair that was hidden during previous sessions.

Side effects of laser hair removal are very minimal; it may include purpura (a laser bruise), redness, blistering, hyper pigmentation, hypo pigmentation, and swelling in the treated area. However, it won't last more than a few days.
